岗位职责、工作范围:
With the growing of the workshop facilities in the new Design Building (South Campus), shared between the Department of Architecture ａｎｄ the Department of Industrial Design, the team of lab technicians increased in the last year: they are presently 2 lab technicians ａｎｄ 2 helpers for the Department of Architecture, ａｎｄ 1 lab technician ａｎｄ 2 helpers for the Department of Industrial Design.
In this context, the new position of Lab Manager is created for coordinating ａｎｄ leading the team of lab technicians ａｎｄ helpers in the workshop facilities of the Design Building.
Successful applicants will have a Bachelor or Master degree, better if majoring in Management, or with any technical formation, ａｎｄ with a minimum of 3 years of experience as a lab technician in a Department of Architecture or in an architectural office (Design Institute or private architectural practice). Good English in speaking ａｎｄ writing is mａｎｄatory, together with a good knowledge of stａｎｄard office software packages, ａｎｄ if possible of new advanced software for digital design ａｎｄ digital fabrication.
个人要求、任职资格:
The specific roles of the Lab Manager will be:
- to coordinate the team of lab technicians ａｎｄ helpers；
- to allocate the work load between the different members of the team；
- to organize the time schedule for the use of facilities by different groups of students during the academic year；
- to liaise with the workshop facilities in the Innovation Hub, for developing synergies in the use of the different machines；
- to liaise with the lab technicians of the workshops at the School of Architecture of Liverpool；
- to support the development of new facilities, ａｎｄ to be responsible of the purchase of new materials ａｎｄ instruments；
- to liaise with suppliers to achieve best outcomes in terms of efficiency ａｎｄ cost；
- to develop management ａｎｄ use policies for new equipment.
Other roles are related with the stａｎｄard roles of a lab technician, as for example:
- to advise students ａｎｄ academic staff on effective use of the workshop facilities ａｎｄ physical model production；
- to manage the Architecture Workshops in accordance with good health ａｎｄ safety practice, ａｎｄ in a professional manner；
- to develop good practice for creating appropriate architectural models using new equipment ａｎｄ materials；
- to communicate regularly with Head of Department, academic staff ａｎｄ students, informing them of issues relating to the management of the workshop ａｎｄ the use of equipment；
- to demonstrate efficient use of equipment to academic staff ａｎｄ students, with an awareness of the professional needs of students on accredited degree courses, ａｎｄ research needs of staff.
